In dataZoa, your own uploaded data works seamlessly right along with data from the Web.
  • All series are completely harmonized, no matter the source
  • As you update your data, all downstream calculations and displays update automatically, wherever they are used.

Uploading

In the data toolbar, select the Upload icon.

^

This brings you to a multi-tab page with uploading options:

From a File

This tab provides a multi-step "wizard" that lets you pick a file to upload, and then helps you describe the particulars of that file. The wizard accommodates sophisticated options like:

  • Row/column Orientation
  • Exclude certain rows or columns
  • Discover dates from multiple cells
  • Construct titles from multiple cells

When the wizard completes, you have the option to save your specifications as a template. You can re-use

When you complete an upload you have the opportunity to save the steps as a template so that you can apply the same

From Text (Copy/Paste)

This tab provides a large text box where you can enter free-form data to upload. Typically the data is copied from a web page or file and then pasted into the text box. dataZoa handles a wide variety of date and data formats, and will handle single ori multiple series in a single upload.

After you upload a new collection of data series, you can name the collection as a dataset. As a dataset, your newly created series keys are grouped together, and can thereafter be updated and maintained in dataZoa's grid-based data editor.

Preserve Your Series Keys

Important: When you upload your own data and you plan on refreshing or "re-uploading" that data again in the future, you must keep track of your series keys.

When you first upload a data series, dataZoa creates a series key as a unique identifier for the series. If you later want to replace the data in-place, so that all of your calculations and displays still refer to the same entity, you must supply the key that was generated. Just about any aspect of the series (title, units, time range, etc.) can change when replacing data in place, just not the key.

From a file Upload

When you use the file upload wizard, newly created keys are shown when the upload finishes. The wizard has a button yoiu can use right then to copy the new keys and insert them as a row or column (as appropriate) in your source file.

From a Text (Copy/Paste) Upload

As soon as you complete a text upload, there is a grouplist called All of Latest Upload that contains your new series and their keys. If you select that grouplist in the workbench, you can immediately inspect the series for their series keys.

One handy way to get the new series keys is to simply check mark the new series and then export them. You will see all of your original data plus the series keys.

From an API Upload

New series keys are returned as part of the transaction used to inject new series. They are thus available to be captured programmatically as part of the process.
