The group of tools at the left of the toolbar area are all about acquiring and maintaining data series.
The first pair of tools are about data from external sites on the World Wide Web. The drop target is the spot where you release data series links that your are dragging into dataZoa. The global index opens an index to a huge variety of data sources.
